Thank you

I just wanted to say a very big thank you for all those kind comments ... I read them all with so much pleasure and felt very much supported and loved by everyone.  You are all so lovely!
It is so very silly how the smallest drop of vitriol in amongst a whole crowd of sweet and kind comments can somehow be so disproportionately effective in bringing one's spirits crashing down, intellectually we know it should not be so but we humans are sensitive creatures and it is just so.  So silly!
So, I thank you all from the bottom of my heart and wish to send you all a big big beautiful bouquet of gorgeousness right back at you!

  1. Your welcome and glad to see you feeling better.

  2. Carolyn, I cannot imagine my life without your blog. Thank you for sharing your expertise, humour and world with us.

  3. You are welcome. Thanks for the flowers :D

  4. I am so glad you are feeling better!

Nothing like getting over 100 supportive comments to pick up one's spirits!

  5. You are totally welcome and thanks for the beautiful flowers!

  6. A bit late, but after reading that last post, I feel the need to underline that you're a great inspiration to me - I think I've read every review of patterns that are in my stash and waiting to be made. I even bought a pattern after seeing your version of it (a Donna Karan dress). Thanks for sharing all those wonderful creations.
Negative people will always be around, I pity them, please don't let it get to you too much (though I probably would get as upset as you were ;)).

  7. I'm glad that you're feeling better...and I totally understand how your joy was stolen since I've had the same thing happen to me. It's an interesting & weird phenomena about blogging and putting yourself out there. There are people who are supportive, kind and understanding and then there are also people who are negative, mean and hurtful. I try to be neutral about these comments but invariably they end up crushing a piece of my creative spirit.

Although I always leave the comments up...I think others should be able to see the meanness of spirit of these comments so I agree with your husband in this instance. But I will admit that it has changed the way I blog and my personal parameters.

I really hope that you can shrug this comment off and continue to share your amazing creations with us.

  8. You are most welcome! And thank YOU for the flowers... sitting mid continent in Canada with the first weather warning of the winter season for up to 30 cm of snow over the weekend, which so far, has only been a skiff but moist enough to make the roads a little slick. I do appreciate when it's not as bad as predicted... your flowers are a welcome bit of summer at the beginning of my winter!

Your blog is my favourite sewing blog. I love reading your pattern reviews and seeing your lovely photos. Ever since PR's Red Dress Contest, I have been checking your posts a couple of times a week. Thank you for taking the time to publicly document your sewing adventures. Best wishes ... :o)

  10. That is very thoughtful X

  11. Glad you are feeling the love and moving on! :)

  12. I read the deleted post and it didn't seem like you! So glad you've not completely lost the blogging creativity. And sharing your skills and creations.
As Rianna says above, I can't imagine the blogging and sewing world without you. You're an inspiration and even if I don't get time to comment, I read every single one of your posts (some blogs I only look at the pictures!)
And if I was ever patient and clever enough to sew my whole wardrobe, then I'd be showing it off too and consider myself to have an excellent knowledge of what I was talking about.
The flowers are beautiful, I'm glad they're in your house to keep you cheerful too :-)

  13. Now, THOSE are aprons! What wonderful stories to go with them. I particularly enjoyed the, ahem, life lesson your daughter learned. I just can't get over how creative your entire family is! I'm also really glad to hear that you're feeling better. The inspiration and good will you spread is massive.

  14. Hey, don't let mean people get you down. :) I never have commented on your blog, but I look at it every day.

  15. I obviously missed the blog post referred to, and the comment that caused you so much grief. I suppose that we put ourselves out there and there will always be someone who will criticise our opinions. But that is what these blogs are - our opinions. And I enjoy yours and would be very sorry if someones thoughtless comment stopped you from blogging.
Don't give up. And the flowers are lovely.

  16. Glad to hear you're back. It's hard isn't it, to try and be 'above it all' and not get affected by a nasty comment. Even if it's just one in a million. But we're only human.

I too got a personal attack comment recently (of course by an anonymous reader) and it really upset and hurt my feelings. I deleted the comment and though I feel a lot better, I still think about it. For some reason I thought our little sewing blogs would be immune from the nastyness that is all over the internet.

The reality is you're a talented and kind blogger and you should keep doing what you're doing. Those negative nancys are the minority, and nobody ever appreciates what they say. They're a waste of time.

Looking forward to seeing all your new projects xxx

  17. Thank goodness you are resilient. One of my favourite machine knitters deleted all her You Tube videos and almost all of her blog. This was YEARS of extremely helpful, wonderful sharing. She did not offer much in the way of explanation, but I suspect something similar as what happened to you.
Hang in there. Haters are gonna hate. Just have to rise above and keep on keeping on.

    Carry on
    Keep Sewing.

    hee hee hee

  18. Your wonderful blog inspires me to have confidence in my own sewing abilities and I look forward to reading about your latest amazing creations each week.

Such a shame that there are some people who have so much anger in their lives that they totally lack the perspective and empathy necessary to realize how their tirades affect others. Surely if they did, they wouldn't post such offensive comments.

I sincerely hope you will continue to share your blog as it is such a fabulous resource to others and always an entertaining read.

    Best wishes, Jo (Sydney)
